Sodium sulfide is a chemical compound known as NA2S formula, or commonly known as NA2S • 9h2O. Both colorless salts are water that form very strong alkaline solutions. Sodium sulfide and its hydrates when exposed to moisture, release sulfide gaggen, which has a smell like rotten eggs.
