### Transformer
Transformers are devices that convert electrical energy from one level of voltage or current to another. Transformers are available in various types according to their application, which includes transformers for general use and transformers for special use. Transformers that are used in most electrical systems and are not designed for a special purpose are called general purpose transformers. which includes dry and oil transformers here. Transformers designed for a special purpose are called special purpose transformers.

### The basis of CT work:
Like all transformers, CT is composed of two primary and secondary coils. The primary coil has a wire with a large cross-sectional area and fewer turns due to the high current, and on the other hand, the secondary coil has a wire with a small cross-sectional area due to the low current. And the number of turns that is connected to the ammeter is high. If we assume that a current of 1000 amperes enters one turn of the primary coil, then we will have a current of 1 ampere for every 1000 turns of the coil in the secondary. So we see that the current of 1000 amperes which could not be measured became one ampere which can be easily measured with a normal ammeter. Therefore, in this example, if we see a current of 1 amp on the ammeter, it means that our real current is 1000 amps, and if we see 1.5 amps, it means that our real current is 1500 amps. ## Current transformers are divided into two types in terms of the core:
1- Current transformers with measuring core
2- Current transformers with protective core
1- Current transformers with a measuring core have the duty to be accurate within the nominal and normal current of the network. And this type of cores should go to saturation in short connecting currents and prevent the increase of current in the secondary and as a result preventing the burning and damage of measuring devices on the secondary side.
2- Current transformers with protective core:
They should be able to be careful even in short circuit currents and reach saturation later so that they can show it in the secondary in proportion to the increase in the current in the primary, and by detecting this excess current in the secondary by the protection relays, they will cut off the command.
