Thermal switches protect the motor against short circuit and overload at the same time. Thermal switches cut off the electric motor from the source in case of short circuit or overload. Disconnected and connected.
## Working principles of thermal switch
The working basis of this key is based on the difference in the longitudinal expansion coefficient of two metals, which means that due to the current passing through the bimetal, the two metals are heated and their length increases. Since the longitudinal expansion coefficient of one of the metals is higher than the other. Two metals are bent together towards the metal that has a lower coefficient of longitudinal expansion. As a result, the current path of the contacts is opened and the circuit is cut off. In addition to thermal switches, auxiliary equipment, including auxiliary contacts, fault contacts, shunt coils and undervoltage coils are used. Due to the fact that these keys have short circuit protection capability, as a result, they have different short circuit power depending on the working current range.
