Anthracite or mineral semi-active carbon is one of Parsian Silica's products. Unlike silica, which is a pure mineral, anthracite is natural coal that is taken as a mineral from the ground and mine, and after being crushed, ground, and sometimes washed, it is packaged and consumed. This product is the highest quality type of coal extracted from the oldest geological formations and has spent the longest time underground. Anthracite has been subjected to the greatest pressure and heat, making it the most compact and hardest coal available. In fact, this material is the most transformed type of coal and has more potential to produce thermal energy than soft coal. Due to its high density, it is difficult to ignite and produces a short, blue, smokeless flame. Anthracite contains a lot of carbon, 80-95%, very little sulfur and nitrogen, less than 1% each. Volatile substances in this coal are very low, approximately 5%, and there are 10-20% ash in its composition. Also, its moisture content is approximately 5 to 15%. Based on the amount of carbon in it, this coal is divided into three groups: standard grade, high grade, and ultra high grade anthracite. The standard grade of this coal is mainly used in electricity production and as household fuel. While high grade (HC) and ultra high grade (UHC) samples are mainly used in the metallurgy and steelmaking industry because they are purer.
This coal waste has been used to generate electricity as a recycling method. This coal is a chemical intermediate between ordinary bitumen and graphite, which is formed by more or less complete removal of volatile compounds in areas under significant stress and pressure. Also, this coal is the most fragile among all types of coal. This product is used in all fields and industries. Among the uses of anthracite, we can mention the mentioned ones.
1-Heating system: This type of coal, as one of the most fragile types of coal, is an excellent source for producing heat for a long time. By burning it, a hot blue flame is produced, which can produce enough heat to supply energy to the heating systems of entire buildings, houses and offices.
Considering that even by burning the smallest amount of anthracite, more heat is produced than wood, as a result, this material is considered economical and efficient.
2-Smelting of steel: despite the high carbon content, this coal is suitable for use in steelmaking industries. This coal is always ready to use in its natural form and does not need to be coked. The properties and nature of anthracite make it excellent for smelting, furnace construction, charcoal briquetting, iron ore pellet production, and more in the metal industry.
3- Locomotive: due to the hard nature of this type of coal, locomotive engineers considered it the perfect source of fuel for trains. Although many trains no longer run on coal
