What is a relay:
It can be said very simply that a relay is an electromechanical switch whose contacts change state by stimulating the coil. Relays consist of two parts that are completely independent from each other. The first part, which is actually the relay coil, which can exist independently of the relay base or in a compact form, and the second part of the relay, which is the same as the relay base. Relays are widely used in the industry today. are dedicated to themselves, relays are mostly used in control circuits, almost all devices used in the industry, either openly or covertly, have used relays. One of the advantages of the relay is that it can be used to obtain high power output with very low power. In other words, it can be said that the relay is considered as an amplifier because the input with low current and the output with high current can be received from it. Depending on the type of construction, relays have 2 bases for feeding the coil and one or more COM blades (common), one or more closed blades (NC) and one or more open blades (NO).
\ r\n One of the important applications of relays can be in using the PLC output path. Because the PLC outputs that exist as relays inside the CPU, it is possible that if they are connected directly to the consumer, they will be defective due to current draw. As a result, the output of the PLC is connected to the coil of an external relay and the consumer is stimulated by the blades of the external relay. The good thing about this is that if something happens to the consumer, the external relay is damaged, in which case the relay can be easily replaced, but if the PLC's internal relay is faulty, it cannot be repaired easily.
The parts of the relay are:
1. Spring
2. Coil to magnetize the blades
3. Contact blades
4. Iron core
\ r\nNote) Relays used to be mostly made electromechanically, but today with the advancement of technology, electronic relays have also been made, including SSR relays, etc.
Things to know when buying a relay:\r \n
1. Voltage and excitation current of the relay coil
2. Tolerable voltage of the contacts
3. Number of blades
4. Appearance of the relay
