Anodizing is an electrochemical process that develops a natural protective layer of metal on the metal surface. Unlike painting and plating processes, anodic coating is not applied to the surface, but oxide is formed on the metal surface and then grows inwards and outwards, resulting in a much harder and more resistant surface. It shows against corrosion and abrasion in comparison with the metal surface.
