Therefore, brake resistance is used to prevent the elevator from breaking down and to help it work properly.
Brake resistance is used in 3 VF elevators because sometimes the heavy side suspended from the motor's traction plate (cabin or weight frame) moves down. In this mode, the motor does not consume any energy, but this mode produces voltage and frequency. In some advanced elevators, this energy is stored in the battery pack with the help of a generator system, and this energy is used later when the system power is cut off. But in normal elevators where this system is not installed, the generated voltage increases the internal voltage of the inverter, and the inverter issues an order to stop the elevator and an error notification. Therefore, this generated voltage must be dissipated in some way, which is because the return energy (the same generated) causes a change in the direction of the electromagnetic field of the motor, and this field causes the motor to stop. The brake resistor is active in short periods of time and converts the resulting energy into heat.
